When it comes to skin care, I like to think I know a thing or two about how to keep acne at bay and wrinkles away, but in a recent struggle to fight off what seemed like a never ending breakout, I knew I needed a little extra help. One day while carrying on about my adult acne and the emotional stress is was causing to a client, they recommended I try a new med spa that had opened up in the West Loop.

I was skeptical at first since I had had a scaring experience at one back in high school (no, she literally scared me from turning a laser up to high), but after about the 50th pimple that showed up and  burning my face with an at home chemical peel (don't try those at home - dumb idea on my part ) I finally made an appointment for a consolation.

As I pulled up to the spa, I was a bit nervous. Were they going to tell me my skin was horrible and I would need to come in for a ton of treatments? Were they going to try and talk me into all this product I didn't need? Though, I was a little uneasy, I still came prepared to  learn as much as I could.  When I finally stepped in the door at Vitahl, I was blown away!

I was greeted by the med spa's Manager Stephanie(who is one of the sweetest people I know) where she informed me that I would be meeting with not just one, but two experts to ensure I could nail down my problem skin.

I first met with Christopher Rosenbarger. Known for his revolutionary Anti-Aging techniques and trained in both Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Dermatology as well as being a Clinical Research Trial administrator, Chris takes a patient centered approach to the science of aging naturally and gracefully.

As a  leader in his field and an expert in long term fillers, he utilizes multidimensional solutions for aging throughout every decade of life. When him and I began to talk, I realized that I couldn't possibly keep up with all he was saying - I finally had to put my phone on record! I asked question after question and he answered each one in a detailed yet simple way so I could still understand.

The conversation progressed and I learned that aside from his multiple other certifications, Chris was also had extensive Clinical and lecturer experience on facial topography and genetic variants. This pioneered his authority in male facial rejuvenation, facial feminization/masculinization in transgender clients, and tissue restoration in HIV lipodystrophy patients. He now travels internationally lecturing, training Physicians, and even training other trainers on long term minimally invasive anti-aging techniques.

I could have sat there for hours listening to his experience and have him answer my questions about acne, wrinkles, preventative botox, and fillers.  As far as I'm concerned he is one of the most talented and knowledgeable individuals in the profession and when the time comes for me to consider any type of botox, you can rest assured that he will be the only person every allowed to touch my face.

After picking Chris's brain for what seemed like forever, it was on to my next consultation with Michelina Quaranta....

Michelina is an Illinois licensed Aesthetician, Laser Safety Certified and Certified Phlebotomy Technician with over 4 years of experience in the cosmetic and skincare industry. She is a graduate of the University of Aesthetics, and the National Laser Institute, as well as holds a B.A. degree from Northern Illinois University.

When dealing with patients (aka you and me) she believes in a gentle touch with a strong educational approach through each step of the treatment. Needless to say, I couldn't keep up on my notes with her either! When I spoke with Michelina about my personal struggle with acne, she was very understanding and gave me sound and educated advice about a few next steps I should take. Steering me away from the feared Accutane route that my previous med spa had told me to go on(Phew!).  She instead, recommend routine facials and a solid skincare routine so that's when I scheduled my Hydro facial!

If you followed along on my Instagram stories you saw the before, and after of my skin and what a difference just one facial made! My pores have been clear and my skin has a dewy fresh look still and it's been three weeks since I had it done! Needless to say, I left the Vitahl office feeling informed, excited about clearer skin in my future and confident that I had found the right team for all my skincare needs!

If you can't tell by the length of this post, I am a strong believer in paying a visit as soon as possible. Vitahl may be new to Chicago, but they are known from around the country as leaders in innovative skin care, utilizing the latest in technological advancements, resulting in the highest level of patient care. They bring together the luxurious beauty of a 5-star spa with the expertise and knowledge of a medical practice that creates an environment that is rejuvenating, discreet, professional and safe. Not only that but they also play a huge part in the community.

Their next event will be held on October 2nd, 2017 and will giving Cancer survivors a chance to feel beautiful again. Nominations can be made and those selected will be given the full spa experience helping them feel like themselves again. Stay tuned on the blog and my Facebook for more information about the event as the time gets closer and don't forget to book your appointment now - you can thank me later ;)
